The Fashion Designer translates the house's design language into resolved, wearable garments — holding the line between concept, craft and construction. The role demands equal fluency in form and detail: the ability to develop a silhouette, to work closely with artisans, and to take a design from first sketch through to an approved, production-ready sample.

Modular Apparel Design
- Develop designs within a modular design system where components, panels and finishes are conceived to work across styles rather than as isolated garments.
- Design with versatility in mind — pieces that can be styled, layered or adapted without losing their integrity.
- Maintain consistency of proportion, construction logic and detailing across a modular range.
- Build and maintain a design library of validated components, blocks and finishes for reuse across seasons.
Silhouette & Form
- Develop silhouettes with a clear point of view — resolving drape, volume, structure and movement on the body.
- Work through draping and toile iterations to arrive at a considered, flattering form.
- Refine fit and proportion across sizes without diluting the original design intent.
- Evaluate fabric behaviour and select materials that support the intended silhouette.
Heritage Craft & Surface
- Research and interpret traditional craft, embroidery and surface techniques with accuracy and respect for their origin.
- Develop surface treatments, placements and embroidery layouts in collaboration with karigars and craft clusters.
- Translate heritage techniques into a refined, contemporary design language rather than literal reproduction.
- Document craft processes, motifs, thread and material specifications for consistency across production.
Technical Design & Sampling
- Prepare detailed technical packs: flats, construction notes, measurement specifications, trims, finishes and stitch details.
- Work with pattern masters and sample tailors through first sample, fit sample and final sample stages.
- Conduct and record fit sessions, issue clear correction comments and drive each sample to approval.
- Resolve construction and finishing problems early, balancing design intent with manufacturability.
Collection Development
- Contribute to concept boards, colour direction, fabric stories and line plans with the Creative Director.
- Own assigned styles end to end — from research and sketch through to final approved sample.
- Maintain the collection calendar, keeping design and sampling milestones on schedule.
- Review the range for balance, coherence and commercial viability before finalisation.
Production & Artisan Collaboration
- Work closely with karigars, embroiderers, tailors and vendors to ensure execution matches approved samples.
- Attend and support pre-production meetings, sealer sample approvals and in-line quality checks.
- Troubleshoot production issues in a way that protects quality, timeline and cost.
- Build long-term, respectful working relationships with craft partners.
Mindset
- Uncompromising attention to detail and a high personal standard of finish.
- Restraint — the judgement to know what to leave out.
- Collaborative, calm and accountable under a demanding calendar.
- Curious about craft, material and technique; committed to continuous learning.
Knowledge
- Strong command of garment construction, pattern logic, fits and finishing standards.
- Working knowledge of fabrics, trims, embroidery techniques and their behaviour in production.
- Awareness of global and Indian design movements, occasion wear and the luxury market.
- Understanding of costing implications of design and material decisions.
Key Performance Indicators
- Design-to-sample accuracy and number of iterations required to reach approval.
- On-time delivery of designs, tech packs and samples against the collection calendar.
- Quality and consistency of finished garments against approved samples.
- Contribution of accepted styles to each collection and their commercial performance.
Skills
- Sketching, illustration and technical flats.
- Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop; CAD / digital design tools.
- Draping, pattern understanding and fit correction.
- Tech pack documentation and clear written specification.
- Vendor, karigar and cross-functional communication.
